The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is partnering with BTP on the “Dialogues in Democracy” project to promote greater public ownership and civic engagement with the critical issues of our times, rallied together under the theme “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
The discussions will culminate in a national town hall meeting at the historic House of Burgesses in Colonial Williamsburg, to be broadcast on PBS. The town hall meeting, hosted by Jim Lehrer, will convene for four days and will bring together a diverse group of influential Americans who will offer their views on America in the
21st Century.
This is the second time WBGU-PBS has been selected as a “By The People” project site. In 2005, WBGU-PBS was selected to convened citizen deliberations on healthcare in Defiance, Findlay, Lima, Fremont and
Bowling Green.
This national exercise in civic engagement is organized by MacNeil-Lehrer Productions’ By the People group, in partnership with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Ongoing BTP project funding partners include the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
