Keeper's House
Capturing the human psyche and imagination - this
painter, sculptor, writer, businessman, salesman,
publicist and architect opens up his world to WBGU-PBS
audiences in Ben Richmond: Artist, Entrepreneur.

This locally known artist attended Lake High School
and fell in love with his now current wife (Wendy) in
Walbridge, Ohio. He then attended the University of
Toledo and graduated into a successful job with
Champion. Yet something stirred in his heart and
Richmond knew that this was not the right path for him.
Taking a chance, he followed his love for nature and art
and opened up a gallery in Marblehead, Ohio.

SpellboundRichmond Gallery turned out to
be a big success and was rated to be "in the top
3% of art galleries in the United States in earnings
."
It wasn't easy for Richmond to leave the mainstream
life, and security of a corporate job - but the pay-off
was indeed great. Richmond describes it best as he recollects his journey, "without all the struggles and
strife
[experienced] the game at hand would be less
compelling to pass through.
"

This documentary portrays the beginnings, the
struggles and the success of Ben Richmond's
journey as an artist, encompassing many talents.
Visually accented with examples of his work,
viewers will learn about his drive and passion for
nature and his curious fascination of lighthouses.
As Wendy, explains ..." the lighthouses are a period of time that no longer
exists. Lighthouses are all over the world not just in the United States, and
there are so many different stories to be told."
Stories rich in history, drama
and even potential haunting's. Viewers will learn of the dry brush watercolor
technique that Richmond uses for his artwork, and tediousness of using the
tiniest brush to get all the details just right.

Watchman's GoneMost of his fans associate him with nostalgic,
nautical themes and of course lighthouses.
The most recognizable subject of his artwork is
the Marblehead Lighthouse, featured in "Watchman's Gone" (seen to the right). Dedicated to preserving
the seafaring heritage and wildlife habitats of the
north coast, the Richmond's also frequent Maine
and portray its beauty through art. Ben Richmond: Artist, Entrepreneur is the perfect documentary to inspire viewers to follow their dreams, and for entrepreneurs to gain courage and from.

Producer Marlene Harris-Taylor and videographer
Tom Zapiecki have captured the artist, the businessman, and the poet at work and at
his homes and galleries in Ohio and Maine.
Key Bank and members of WBGU-PBS
