The Hamler Summer Fest is the "Grand Daddy" of all the summer fests in the midwest. This festival is just one of
the events that makes Henry County stand out.
WBGU-PBS has produced 7 local documentaries of this
event: Hamler Summer Fest '76, Hamler Summer Fest '78, Hamler Summer Fest '79, Hamler Summer Fest '93,
25th Annual Hamler Summer Fest, Hamler Summer Fest 1998: 30th Anniversary, and Hamler Summer Fests: Remembering Marv.
This festival welcomes thousands, young
and old alike, from as far away as Florida
and New Jersey to this rural community in Northwest Ohio. Polka dancing, German
potato salad, sauerkraut, hot dogs, bratwurst and beer were the catalysts for a great time. Traditional crowd favorite, Marv Herzog,
spans his usual musical magic which fills the dance floor. Dick Pillar and his wife JoAnne perform medley's of old and new music that keep people up on their feet and dancing.
As Marv Herzog describes it, the Hamler Summer Fest is not only the oldest, not only the biggest, it is the most fantastic
of the summer fests in the midwest. Sit back and enjoy one of Northwest Ohio's infamous traditions of community and celebration.
