Marcia wants people to know that a lifestyle such as her own, including moderation
in eating, daily exercising and hormone replacement therapy did not protect her from heart disease. Her congestive heart failure was the result of an upper respiratory viral infection that lingered on in her body, and attacked her heart. She was to learn this is not an uncommon occurrence, but often overlooked in diagnosis of women.

The millions of viewers of her many cooking series who love Marcia's wit and subtle humor will want to see how she is dealing with this disease that is changing her life. They will be inspired by her courage and positive attitude, and learn, as always, from her experience, her gracious sharing and thoughtfulness in trying to help others to enable them, too, to turn a negative situation into a positive one.
