Baseball in Japan

This is a 60-minute documentary I produced and directed about baseball on the island country of Japan.

Baseball in Japan shows the differences between American and Japanese baseball strategy. It shows the viewer the high-energy, Japanese baseball fans and presents some interesting aspects of ballpark atmosphere such as team fight songs, the balloon release, a "hero" interview after the game, and the ballpark food. Baseball in Japan presents a brief look at the game's rich history and shows why Japanese players are some of the best-conditioned athletes in the world. It discusses the manager's unique relationship with his team and its Japanese and "imported" American players. Finally the program discusses the possibility of a "true" world series. It aired on 123 PBS stations as well as overseas.

The following is a clip from the program.
